"Thank you for being such a staunch advocate for healthy children (and adults) and making it easier to do it smartly."

- Sue Kowaleski, Coordinator, Southern Adirondack Child Care Network and Eco-healthy Child Care Trainer
“Informed Green Solutions (IGS) was instrumental in the passage of legislation that ensures the use of safer, green cleaning products in Vermont’s schools. The technical expertise that Carol Westinghouse, president of IGS, provided to legislators and advocates, as well as her constant outreach to interested stakeholders including schools, custodians, and superintendents, was critical to moving the bill forward.”

- Charity Carbine-March, Environmental Health Advocate, Vermont Public Interest Research Group
“As a parent representative working to green the Portsmouth, NH school district, I found the Cleaning for Healthier Schools training informative and useful. Also, the training provided a needed forum for people to come to a consensus about the cleaning methods and products our district will adopt. I am happy to report that many of the recommendations included in Carol’s training have been implemented in our district, and for that, the students, faculty and staff are all healthier!”

Lindsey Carmichael, parent and author of Greening Your Family: A Reference Guide to Safe Food, Personal Care and Cleaning Products
“Carol Westinghouse and Informed Green Solutions have been instrumental in educating schools about green cleaning. I recently saw Carol’s presentation & evaluation at the NEKCA Lyndonville Head Start/Early Head Start program. The quality of the content and data in her presentation was as detailed and professional as I’ve ever witnessed. Carol’s attention to detail while maintaining her focus to introduce practices that reduce the amount of toxic products while improving cleaning processes creates real change for cleaning personnel and building occupants."
“The Connecticut School Indoor Environment Resource Team (CSIERT) offers a special program on green cleaning, entitled Cleaning for Health (Cleaning for Healthier Schools). This program was developed by INFORM and continued by Informed Green Solutions, organizations devoted to educating the public on sustainable practices and policies to protect both the environment and health. Cleaning for Health is an educational and technical assistance program designed to help schools transition to the new generation of less- toxic cleaning chemicals and to adopt state-of-the-art cleaning practices. During 2008, Carol Westinghouse held several trainings and coordinated with CSIERT on the development of a Cleaning for Health Program in Connecticut. In 2010 alone, CSIERT provided training for over 700 custodial staff members from 383 schools in 33 school districts. Ms. Westinghouse has been instrumental in educating school personnel about the importance of using less toxic cleaning products and in providing the groundwork for green cleaning legislation. ”

- Nancy Simcox, Industrial Hygienist, University of Connecticut Health Center
"Through Carol’s testimony and expertise at the Vermont Statehouse, our first green cleaning legislation has now passed in both the senate and the house. It’s now on its way to the Governor to be signed into law. We value Carol as a partner in the move to reduce the hazardous chemicals in institutional cleaning products.”

- David Hughes, Foley Distributing Account Executive

"My daughter has really bad allergies. We just discovered that this was the reason for a lot of her health issues. In order to find out the source of these allergies we did some research and came across your helpful page. You have some good information. Thanks!"
"During our search we also came across this article on fragrance allergies (http://www.perfume.com/article-a-consumer-guide-to-fragrance-allergies). After reading this we started tracking when she felt a reaction and realized that it was definitely a fragrance allergy. Since perfume, cologne and other fragrances are almost everywhere, it really surprised us! We learned a lot.

We wanted to share it with you as a thank you and thought it would make a great addition to your page. I think others who are looking for the source of their allergic reactions will find this information useful! Now that we know what causes her to feel sick, she will be a much healthier child which I'm so happy about."
